Beagle 206X in its New Location
The Beagle 206X has moved from the main hangar to a spot outside
Northbrook College Hangar next the Hawker Hunter WT806.
This aircraft was the protoype for what was to be the Beagle Basset whilst
in use with the RAF. 85 aircraft were built in total, two of which served
with the Australian Flying Doctor Service.
This prototype, built at Shoreham in 1960, is currently owned by Brooklands
Museum. It was brought to Shoreham for restoration in May 2005. Since that
time an enormous amount of work has been undertaken by volunteers. Many parts
had to be remanufactured by some of the volunteers who had been employed on
the prototype at original build. Whilst the aircraft will never fly again,
it is being restored fully with two engines and propellors. There is still
a lot of work to be done and the Beagle restoration Society will be helped
by Northbrook College Aeronautical Department.
